Personality & Traits
General Overview | Once considered stern and courageous, Elias is ambitious though that has changed somewhat, with his becoming more pragmatic and pessimistic after service on the Cardassian border. His aspirations have been hampered by his determination to effect change, to the point where when he sees something that needs to be done, he is willing to do what it takes, even to the point of calling in favors and using his family name. He is highly responsible, willingly taking on the task of raising his younger brother, Clay, while at the same time, has become more guarded and defensive. Being on the front line of the Borg attack in the Sol system, witnessing his mother's assimilation, and escaping with his younger brother, has left him with traumatic nightmares, occasional flashbacks, emotional numbing, hypervigilance, and trouble sleeping (aka an undiagnosed case of PTSD). | |
Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: Combat Training - In addition to standard combat and weapons training, Clay is a specialist in hand to hand and small arms, more so than the average security officer, feeling that Starfleet has become rather complacent in recent years. With the Borg and the new “Dominion” becoming major threats, he sees that dark times are coming. Weakness: Poor Eyes: As a result of genetic traits inherited at birth, he suffers from an allergy to Retinax V and thus wears glasses and tactical frames to correct his eyesight. THis did not dissuade him from duty nor bar him from service. Traumatic nightmares, occasional flashbacks, emotional numbing, hypervigilance, and trouble sleeping (aka an undiagnosed case of PTSD). |

Personal History | Elias McEntrye was born in Dallas on 22th of April of 2336 to Clay McEntyre the Second and Silvia McEntyre. The McEntyre’s being a military family with deep roots in Federation Service, dating back to before the Federation was founded. Elias’ ancestors were MACO officers and Enlisted personnel, most notably General Josiah McEntyre of the United Earth MACO. He does have family in the service today, though they are Medical Officers and Surgeons, mainly on his Uncle’s side of the family. Growing up, Elias was inspired by his family’s legacy, something that was espoused about at length given their lineage and spent his childhood years learning proper discipline, weapons handling, and self-reliance, skills useful for a future soldier of the Federation. His father, Clay understood this drive and need, having served as an Intelligence and Security Officer on several starships and Deep Space Outposts. He nurtured the budding future officer, teaching him the in’s and out’s of Starfleet, and helping him with his studies and exams to qualify for a slot at Starfleet Academy’s Jeremiah Hayes College of Security, when Elias expressed an interest in joining the Space Service. Elias was accepted with high honors to Starfleet in 2356, having achieved remarkable scores in his High School classes and admission exams. He trained harder than any recruit at the Academy, impressing his instructors with his commitment to the Force, and his willingness to go above and beyond for his beliefs. Upon his senior graduation from the academy, he earned a double bachelor’s in Military History and Defense and Strategic Studies, graduating in the top of his class and was commissioned into the fleet on the fast track to Lieutenant. He spent his career in garrison postings and two combat drops against the Cardassians in the final years of the Cardassian Border Wars. This left him with the impression of Starfleet’s complacency and aloof nature, that Starfleet’s technological wizardry will always save them. Elias feels differently and as such, has grinded against his superiors who feel he’s been too reactionary. Elias hopes to prove himself right, having authored numerous papers and opinion pieces for the Federation and Starfleet services. Unfortunately he was proven right, when the Borg launched their devastating invasion of Earth and the Federation. In the final hours of the last stand and with the lines breaking, Elias made a last ditch effort to get home, finding his mother clutching his toddler brother, Clay, in her arms, having given her life to protect him. His father, a Captain, had gone down with his ship. Realizing that Earth was lost and the evacuation signals being given, Elias gathered up his brother, and what little in the way of his family’s possessions and fled Earth in a shuttle towards the nearest ship, The Jane Addams. |
