We Must Do Something

Mission: Resistance is Necessary
Location: Luna/Earth

Kenneth was sitting at the controls they were currently dropped out of warp as they were now moving past Luna. In the next few minutes, they would be docking at Starfleet Headquarters.

"Oh my," Andrea replied bringing the shuttle to a full stop abruptly. "What the hell is that thing?"

Hunt looked up as he seen a ship shaped a huge cube in orbit of Earth. The other Cadets quickly moved to the front of the shuttle as they were clearly in shock as well.

"Cadet where did you stop us?" the Commander questioned.

"Right outside Luna," she answered. In her voiced was clearly the sound of someone shocked.

Hunt looked down at his panel. "There's a lot of broad messages being sent out." Turning on, the group overheard various calls for assistance and help.

"I want whatever scans you get from this distance that you can," the instructor ordered. "Magnify whatever it is on the main viewer."

As they magnified that could see that was firing down on the surface. It was firing on multiple major cities. Looking in horror, Ian was the first to be visibly upset.

"We have to do something besides standing here looking useless," Ian spoke. "Our friends and families are do there."

Yulk turned his attention to his fellow cadet. "And what do you propose we do with a ship that size."

"We don't do a thing with that ship Cadet," the Commander responded. "But I agree with getting down to Earth and accessing the situation and doing our part."

"Commander, I have determined where that ship is directing their attacks," Hunt spoke up. "Paris, San Francisco, New York, Tokyo and every other major city on the planet."

"Cadet Hernandez lay in the safest route possible to get us to Starfleet Headquarters," Moak ordered.

"Aye sir." Setting in a course, the shuttle proceeded to move forward towards Earth.

"Gather around Cadets," the instructor spoke. "We have no idea what we'll find down there. But I can assure you that it will likely be very bad, and the causalities will likely be extremely high. Many of these individuals you may be familiar with. But I need for you all to remain calm and remember your training."

All the Cadets looked at each other and nodded. "Yes sir," they all replied in unison. A few minutes later they had safely made it into orbit and were making their way down to San Francisco. The devastation below was unbelievable. As they made their way towards Starfleet Headquarters, they passed over several neighbors. Once of those neighborhoods, belonged to Kenneth's grandparents who were likely at work at Headquarters around this time. He had a teenage cousin who resided with them who should have been at school. As much as he wanted to stop the shuttle, he had a duty to stick with the current plan.

Reaching Starfleet Headquarters, they could see that the streets were filled with various people were clearly fleeing. "What are those down there?" Alisa questioned pointing to what appeared to be an unknown invasion force in the streets.

Hunt quickly began going through the sensors. "I have no idea. No species that I or the data base recognizes. But they're organic and mechanical based."

Commander Moak thought for a moment, before finally speaking. "Take us to transports. There will be those likely trying to evacuate there. We can begin there."
