Personality & Traits
General Overview | Cameron is gifted, analytical, and good at figuring things out. Having grown up on a freighter that was 'frankensteined' out of whatever parts they could find, she learned early how to make alien technology play nice. She's a gentle soul, completely non-competitive, and a bit haunted by past trauma.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: > Highly intelligent, gifted is the term most used, with an eidetic memory (she retains and can easily access vast amounts of information) > Analytical mindset > Good with alien technology Weaknesses: > Shy, introverted - has a hard time standing up to assertive/aggressive people > Plagued by nightmares and insomnia > Tends to go quiet/inward when she's thinking through a problem > Pacifist |
|
Ambitions | Survive and thrive
Hobbies & Interests | > Holodeck programming. Going under the name, "Rook", she creates detailed, authentic historical fiction which she builds on her own rather than letting the computer system do the heavy lifting. > Reading - widely eclectic but always non-fiction. Keeps a huge library of books on her personal PADD. > Ballet. The loves ballet and practices whenever she can though its not something she shares with just anyone. |
Personal History | Cameron grew up on on an old freighter, the Hercules, which was owned by her parents, John Henry Reed and Allison Young Reed. Her father was a gifted engineer who didn't play well with others but had a talent for making aging alien tech work together. Her mother took the role of Captain, a no-nonsense, stubborn woman who had a talent for making people who normally wouldn't want to be in the same room with each other work together. Allison had a way of creating family. John Henry made the ship work and he taught a lot of that to his daughter. Cameron was a shy and curious child who always had a million questions, always wanting to learn, to know. She loved working with her father and inherited his talent with alien technology. The course of her life changed dramatically when the Hercules took on a new crew member for a long run, where they would be spending months in deep space. It was a lucrative job, their biggest yet. A week out, incidents started occurring on the ship. Things went missing. The new crew member was found beaten and claiming to have been surprised by someone in the cargo hold. And then Cameron started finding things missing from her quarters, waking up with the feeling of someone having touched her while she slept, heavy breathing or footsteps in the corridors. It took more than a month for her parents to believe her. She gained a reputation for being clumsy (no one could find the wire stretched across the corridor that she claimed was there) and fanciful. The stowaway wasn't found until nearly the end of the voyage; he was turned over to authorities when they made port but the damage was done. Her parents adopted twin boys, charming hellions both, and while they got along, it was clear that Cameron had one foot out the door. When she turned eighteen, Cameron knew that she couldn't stay on board the Hercules another minute. For her it was haunted by the memory of that time and what she had endured ... alone. |

Service Record | 2361-2365: Starfleet Academy, Engineering Major/Computer Specialty Growing up on a freighter, traveling long distances with a small crew, Cameron wasn't ready for the social side of the Academy. Too many people, too many voices; she struggled to fit in, to even make herself heard. Academically, she was light years ahead of her peers but there were weak points when it came to phasers (she barely qualified) and hand-to-hand (again, barely qualified). 2365-2367: USS Archimedes, Computer Systems Specialist |
