Mission: Resistance is Necessary
Location: Jupiter

Cadet Kenneth Hunt and four other cadets were almost finished with breaking down the small shelter they had been residing in for the past week. Five second year cadets were chosen to participate in an advanced survival training. It had been a tough week, but they all managed to pull through. The instructor, Commander Moak had been observing their progress for the past week. It was interesting how the Vulcan didn't say much but simply observed them. Upon making back to Earth, he would post up his observations and present them or not present them with the additional credit.

"Everyone we are scheduled to return to the shuttle craft for departure in ten minutes," the Commander informed the Cadets.

"Aye Sir," Hunt replied. "We'll be ready in five minutes."

Five minutes later the group of Cadets were back on the with all the Type VII shuttle craft with their gear and equipment stored away. The Commander stood back in the corner and observed as the Cadets all sat down at their stations. For the most part, he would just allowed them to lead, unless something critical went wrong.

Cadet Andrea Hernandez sat down at the helm, looked over at Kenneth who was located in the seat next to her. “Ready to get back home Kenny.”

Hunt simply sighed. “Now you know that I hate you calling me that.”

“But the frustration on your face hearing me say that brings me pleasure,” Andrea responded.

Looked back at the Commander and turned back to Andrea. “We’ll see who gets the last laugh when we return. In the meantime, let’s pretend to be professionals.”

Andrea sighed. “You’re way too serious.” Tapping at the controls, she powered the engines, and the shuttle began to take off. A few minutes later, they found themselves leaving orbit with a direct course set back to Earth. “At our current speed we will be in orbit in twenty-three minutes.”

One of the males in the back called out to the front of the shuttle. “So, everyone up for celebrating our successful week later this evening.”

“Ian it would be a little premature to celebrate our success without knowing the scores Commander Moak plans to give us first,” Yulk the Vulcan Cadet responded.

Ian simply rolled his eyes at Yulk. “We know who won’t be there celebrating tonight.”
All the Cadets burst out laughing, minus Yulk.

“You can count me in,” Alisa said. “Even if not a celebration. I can definitely use the happy moment.”

“You know I’m down for it,” Andrea chimed in. “And how about you Kenny. Will you be joining us or hanging back with Yulk?”

Kenneth simply smiled. “You know that I am always down for a team building activity. Yulk you should consider coming up.”

Yulk contemplated the question. “Logically it would be in the best interest of the group for me to participate in this outing with the group. Therefore I will be in attendance.”
“Give it up to logic,” Ian replied with a chuckle.

Commander Moak sat in the corner, jotting down some notes on his PADD while observing the conversation. The group handled the weekly long survival train rather well. Whatever weaknesses each had were compensated by the others and they clearly worked well together. There was some arrogance that came from Ian, but it was expected from a Human male with his background. Alisa was quiet and often times was a follower more than a leader among this particular group of strong personalities. Yulk led by logic which was expected. But the thing, he found interesting was the fact, he was so open to embarrassing the behaviors of his classmates and quick to learn from them. This would get him far in his career. Andrea was exceptional, but very playful as the Humans would call it. She had a way of finding humor in things and somehow coming with a joke. Kenneth was primarily focused and did his best to always make an impression. The young man operated as if he was under constant observation. There was moments when he relaxed but would catch himself at times. Natural leader but needed to realize that life wasn’t all that serious.

“What do you think he’s writing back there,” Kenneth whispered as he leaned in closer to Andrea.

Looking over her shoulder, she quickly turned back. “Probably which one of us needs to be drummed out of the Academy first.”

“Can you be serious for a moment?”

“Honestly, the Commander is probably just finalizing his report,” Hernandez answered. “There’s no point in worrying or stressing over something we can’t change at this point. So Kenny just relax.”

“You know for the first time ever your right,” he conceded. “Who would have thought that something sensible could actually come out of that month of yours.”

Andrea fake gasped. “The last time I share any of my valuable knowledge with you.”
