Mission:
Resistance is Necessary
Location: Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars
The transport Mirage had been instructed to remain in orbit and assist with evacuation efforts at the Utopia Planitia. Sakura had opted to leave the transport and wait at her office with her daughters at her office. They weren't allowed anyone to transport down on Mars, but she managed to transport a few items from her home to the office. One of the advantages to having been married to Jason Reeves was that man always insisted on having stuff prepared in case they had to quickly leave. The reason she chose to leave the transport was that the Jane Addams was on its way to Utopia to pick up personnel. She had quickly let him know that she was there with the girls. At first Jason told her to stay with the transport, but after a refusal to do so and insisting to travel a ship with him. He had finally given in.
Leila was a bit confused on what was really happening, but Kimora was well aware of what was going on. Too many on the transport and being talking and speculating on what was happening on Earth. Which only made things worse and helped spread panic throughout the ship. "Mom what are we waiting for?"
"We're waiting on your father to here," Sakura answered.
"Daddy's is coming," Leila spoke up with excitement in her voice.
She smiled down at her daughter. "Yes and were going to be traveling with him."
Kimora processed the information and began to calm down. Being with daddy would make them all safe, the child thought to herself. "When will he get here?"
"Soon enough. Your father has to help out a lot of people before reaching here." Sitting down at the computer, she began downloading the schematics and satellite images. They were close enough just have an idea on what the hell happened. Even with all the rumors, she knew that Starfleet didn't fare well according to Jason who clearly was shaken up when they briefly spoke. Which was something that she had never witnessed from him. Her engineering mind quickly went to work on wanting to know how to bring down such a ship. It wouldn't be determined anytime soon, but there would be something to start with.
Leila opened up the container which possessed copies of records, holo photos and several other items. Pulling out a double of her favorite stuffed bear that she hadn't seen in the last two years. The child hugged it. "Mister Eddie. I thought you threw it away."
"Honest, I don't throw anything away," Sakura replied. "I save it until you or your sister are ready to see it again."
Walking over the container, Kimora reached in and pulled out some Starfleet emergency rations. Looking further down the child, stepped back and looked at her mother. "Is that a phaser case?"
Sakura reached into the container and pulled out a phaser case that was clearly locked. "Yes, it is and there are two phasers in this case that you and your sister are not to try and hack your ways into. Everything in that container your father put a plan in order in case of emergency. Honestly, I thought he was overexaggerating, with having one prepared when not on a starship. But it appears that he was right."
The eldest child simply smiled. It was extremely rare that she heard her mother give her father credit for anything in years. It only took for something really bad to take place. This day would definitely need to be entered into her diary. "Mom that was very nice of you to say."
Looking down at her daughter, the mother simply rolled her eyes. Then she couldn't help but to start chuckling. Kimora's sarcasm was a trait that she inherited from her. That child definitely was going to follow in her father's footsteps, but that inquisitive mind and the constant need to know something came from her. There were times that she simply forgot about that.
"Mommy can I have a ration?" Leila inquired.
"Those are for emergencies," Sakura replied as she placed the phaser case in the container. "You have a perfectly functional replicator that you can use for food. Now you two pack this thing back up. Who knows when we'll need to move out of here quickly."
"Yes ma'am," the girls replied in unison.
Returning back to her workstation, Meng continued to go through computer and retrieve as much data as possible.
