Mission:
The Raz Defense
Location: Security Chief Office
OOC: Back Post takes place before the last battle with Borg
It was few hours before the Jane Addams was set to arrive at Andor to drop off the refugees, In all honesty, Commander Reeves still hadn't quite decided on whether to drop off his own family or keep thm on board here with him. Most of his attention had ben placed on getting this memorial toegther. But regardless of the distractions, eventually he would have to come to a decision. Passing through the doors of security, he waas greeted by several personnel. There were some that worked under him, years ago when he ran the place, then there was those who served on the previous Chief of Security who died right before beginning his retirement.
Before arriving he wanted to speak with Lieutenant McEntyre, before everything picked up with the drop offs and the memorial which would take place afterwards, Reaching the office, Jason pressed the chime.
Elias was still going through stacks of PADDs, reports, intelligence and some of the old MACO data they had pulled from the Mars Archives. It was hard long tedious work but he did it gladly as a way to distract himself from the events of the world.
He perked up at the sound of his office chime.
“Come in” he called out.
The door opened as Jason entered the room. Looking at everything that McEntyre had stacked on his desk, the man was clearly hard at work. "Elias you have a few moments?"
Elias sets down the PADD he was working on, nodding. "I can spare the time, what's on your mind, XO?" Elias asked, offering one of the chairs in front of his desk to the man.
"I got coffee in the pot" He pointed his head towards the pot of coffee on his desk.
Jason pulled up the seat and sat down, while waving off the coffee. "Just wanted to discuss something personal regarding your younger brother, before I go into things regarding the Borg, If you don't mind of course?"
Elias leans back, his brow furrowing.
"Nothing bad, I hope. I know he's been a bit...distant. He saw...he saw shit that would haunt nightmares during the invasion."
"Oh no, nothing of the sort," Reeves replied waving his hands. "There have been no negative reports about your brother whatsoever. I was just inquiring if you had planned on keeping him on board or dropping him off with the refugees on Andor
Clay glared at the commander, furrowing his brow at the question. “He’s the only family I have left in this world. To abandon him on Andoria would be a massive betrayal to him and to my family, rest their souls.” He said bluntly.
"I wasn't suggesting just leaving him behind. Just on maybe if you considered leaving him with friends? Kind of deciding on whether to bring my own family along or dropping them off as well. Like you I want them to remain on the Jane Addams. But not sure if leaving them here would place them endanger of an inevitable fight with the Borg." Jason was obviously feeling torn on what was the best decision to make in this situation.
"All of my friends are dead, died during the Invasion." Elias somberly said.
The Commander went quiet. Honestly, he had no clue that Elias and his brother had literally lost everyone. "Now I definitely understand where you're coming from."
Elias simply nodded.
"I think it's important to keep family close. Clay is too young to be left with some stranger that he doesn't know. I don't want him to think I've just abandon him when the going got tough."
"I understand your decision completely. My children have a mother to look out for them. But I feel comfortable having the three of them close by. My situation seems selfish in a way."
"I don't think it's selfish at all. We want that connection, that community when our community has suffered. We're some of the last survivors of the Federation. It's only natural to hold close to people we care about."
Jason nodded in agreement. "You're raising your brother on you own. If you need any help with him, feel free to come to myself or Sakura. We're your community as well."
Elias smiled a small smile. A small victory, finding people who could help him with Clay. As much as he loved his brother, it was a handful raising a small child.
"Thank you, Commander."
"No problem at all. Let's get to business. About trying to get through those Borg shields."
Elias nods and hands over several PADDs he had been working on the problem with.
"What do we have here?" Reeves inquired.
"Research, shield schematics for Jane Addams, some calculations I made." Elias replied as he picks up one to begin the work.
The Commander nodded in approval. "Well let's get to it then."
