Mission:
Admiral Ambition and the Borg
Location: Deck 9: Security
Kenneth Hunt made his way through the rubble that was the security department. They had gone from taking on heavy fire with their battle with the Borg to suddenly a jolt without hardly any warning brought on further damage. But from the sound of things, they were no longer involved in a fight, which meant the Jane Addams had warped to safety. If this is what you called safety. There were moans from multiple injured personnel and there were others on the ground were completely silent. A few moments ago, he had been standing next to Ian Jones before being thrown across the room. Now he had no clue where he was located.
Standing in the middle of the department barking orders was the Assistant Chief of Security who was pointing out in various directions. One of his orders was for all those uninjured to determine who was injured to the point of being taken to sickbay and to see if there had been in causalities. Kneeling down next to a Petty Officer, Hunt checked the man's pulse. It was at the moment; he realized that the poor soul was dead. From there, he proceeded to move onto the next body.
"Cadet Hunt," a crewman called out. "Help me lift this panel, there's someone under here."
Doing as instructed, Kenneth moved over to the crewman and began lifting parts of the ceiling that had collapsed. Underneath was another body that was badly burned. Moving another part of the deck, Hunt gasped as he immediately recognized the Cadet uniform. Seeing the other dead bodies had been shocking, but seeing the crushed body of his friend Ian Jones was a sight than caused him to completely freeze up. At that moment, everything had gone completely silent. The crewman was trying to get his attention, but Kenneth heard absolutely nothing.
The crewman began shaking the cadet who finally came out of his trance. "Are you okay?" Taking a look at the body, the crewman slapped himself on the forehead. "Of course you're not okay. That was your buddy."
Hunt simply stared at the crewman, not really sure where to go from there. "I'm not sure what to do."
"Not to sound like an asshole. But we got to keep moving." Looking down, there was a female under the rubble, moaning in pain. "Come on we have to help her out."
Still in shock, Kenneth helped the crewman clear some more stuff that allowed them to reach the trapped Petty Officer. Standing there, he watched as the crewman assessed the injury and eventually determined that it was safe to move her. She had been standing next to the Cadet and the individual so burned they couldn't identify him. But yet somehow, she was lucky enough. "Help me out, she can be moved."
Hunt assisted in carrying her over to the corner where they were placing all the seriously injured personnel. Placing her down, the Cadet looked back to where Ian's body was still located. They decided to stay on the ship together, along with their three other friends. They all agreed that it was their duty to stay on the Jane Addams. Now Ian was dead. It was at the moment, he wondered how his other friends were doing. When they woke up this morning and reported for duty, the last thing on their minds was a fight against the Borg. And now Ian was dead. Overwhelmed with extreme, anger and sadness. Kenneth looked around the room which was in complete ruin and for the first time in life there was no real direction other than the orders given earlier which seemed to be coming from a man just a confused as himself.
