Mission: Resistance is Necessary
Location: Security Office

The doors to the security offices opened as Kenneth Hunt and Ian Jones entered the department. Since the other cadets and himself have been here, they had been mostly assigned to clean up duties throughout the ship. As much as he was happy to be helpful in any way possible. It had been agreed upon by all the cadets that they could be doing more things that focused on their majors. So now here was seeing what he could do his time off to assist in the security department. Spotting Lieutenant McEntyre, he walked up to the superior. "Lieutenant McEntyre can we speak with you please?"

Elias looks up from the desk. "Yes....Mister?" He asks as he stands, all almost 7 foot of him looking down at the cadet before him.

Both Cadets snapped to the position of attention. "Sir I just wanted to requesting speaking with you about the current duty roster," Hunt spoke. The other cadet stood next to him not saying a thing.

"Speak Freely, Cadet. What about the current duty roster?" Elias asked, standing to his full height and towering over the cadets.e

Both cadets looked at each and then stared up at the Lieutenant towering over the both of them. "Recently we've been doing quite a bit of cleaning the department and around the ship. Which we have no issue with. But we were thinking that perhaps, we could be given some additional duties within the department, involving security."

Elias thought for a moment, turning around to gather several paper books and handing them to the cadets.

"If security is what you're looking to explore. Start by reading the Security tactics handbook and the MACO playbook. Both are excellent resources for Security Officers. Then we can set up some training time on the Holodecks. Beyond that, I have mostly busy work, filing reports and such other things." Elias explained to the two cadets. "If I find your performance in these training drills acceptable, then we can talk about doing some shifts on patrol."

The Cadets looked down the books that were handed to them. In school, they had heard about books and have even seen them in museums. But they were never allowed to actually touch the books. This was definitely a piece of history in their hands.

"Thank you, Lieutenant," they both replied simultaneously.

"Of Course. Now, you have studies to attend too, if there's nothing else?" He asked of them.

They both looked at each other as if they had a question that they were simply too nervous to ask. Clearing his throat, Ian began to speak. "Sir, any idea on where we are heading next?"

"When I know that, then you will know Cadets. For now Focus on your tasks." Elias said sternly.

"Yes Sir." The two quickly acknowledged as they stood there for a brief moment, then did an about face and exited the Lieutenant's presence.

Kenneth appreciated the added literature but on a side note. There still was the feeling of being useless and limited the way the Cadets were treated as if they needed to be given lowly task just to keep them busy and out of the way. Obviously, they weren't going to be handed a phaser and sent after the Borg. But they possessed a lot more skills and talents, which in his opinion were not being used.

Ian looked over at his fellow Cadet. "He actually has access to real books. Lieutenant McEntyre clearly has a lot of connections or access to quite a bit of things. Rumor has it his family has been in Starfleet just as long as your own family."

"Unfortunately, a lot of my family archives are located on Earth," Hunt replied with a sigh. "My Uncle Marlon and his family reside on Trill, but he was never Starfleet. So, I doubt he would have access to anything on his end."
